Horse Care
Horses graze in the infield pasture on a sunny day.
Individual and larger, multi-horse paddocks are also available.
Doverwood Farms prides itself on providing hands-on, high-quality, individualized care for your horse.
Feeding:
Horses are fed four times a day, and they receive high-quality concentrates in the morning and late afternoon. This fall, we'll be transitioning from Purina Strategy to an all-natural and organic feed with a similar nutritional profile.
Horses are fed high-quality hay at each feeding.
Supplements are fed at no extra charge, and farm managment will work with owners who have special feeding requirements.
Horses are watered throughout the day, and buckets are thoughly cleaned twice a week.
Turnout
Horses are turned out for about 7 hours each day, except in the worst of weather conditions. All horses are hand-led to turnout.
Doverwood features a variety of turnout scenarios, including a large grazing pasture, individual pens and four larger paddocks that accomodate small groups. Care is taken to ensure that turn-out groups are compatible.
Other Services
If your horse requires medication, bandaging, blanketing, or application of fly spray, Doverwood staff are happy to help. A variety of services, including hand-walking, horse swimming, exercise and training rides and grooming are also available.
